It’s hard to believe Mitchelton’s bustling Blackwood Street is turning 100!

To celebrate, the Blackwood Street Chamber of Commerce has organised a day with vintage outfits, antiques and plenty of photographs.

Blackwood Street has come a long way since the Lee sisters opened their general store in 1917, which is now commemorated with a plaque in its original location.

Alison Euler spoke to Lee Hurst, one of the organisers, about this little strip of community.
