It’s hard to believe we’re already at the Easter school holidays - didn’t the kids go back just last week?!
Thankfully, Newmarket has plenty of things for kids to do over the break that will keep them entertained.
Beat the “Mum I’m bored” with these five fun things to do in and around Newmarket.
Catch a movie at the new cinema
Reading Cinemas, 400 Newmarket Road
After years of anticipation and waiting, the cinemas have finally opened at Newmarket.
Kick back and relax with the plush chairs and cool air-conditioning to watch new releases on the big screen for only $10 a ticket.
For a treat, you can upgrade to the Titan Room, with amazing surround-sound and chairs that recline.
Plus it’ll keep the kids quiet for a few hours.

Go for a dip in the pool
Newmarket Olympic Pool, 71 Alderson Street, Newmarket
The summer heat is hanging around a little too long for our liking this year, but it does mean a trip to the pool is a great way to spend a sunny afternoon.
Perfect for kids of all ages, Newmarket Olympic Pool has two big pools for the bigger kids with shade and a covered toddler’s wading pool for the littlies.
There’s also a playground and picnic tables once they tire of the pool and are ready for a snack.
Go for a walk or bicycle ride in the Banks Street Reserve
Banks Street, Alderley
37 hectares of bushland reserve is tucked away on the border of Newmarket - who knew?
Get the kids on their bikes for a cycle along the paths, or educate the kids with a guide book of the native wildlife.
There are plenty of signs throughout the reserve to give you an insight into the local wildlife, as well as how the area has changed since the 1800s when it used to be a market.

Visit the animals at Newmarket Village Children’s Farm
Newmarket Village, 400 Newmarket Road, Newmarket
Newmarket Village are hosting an Easter farm for kids to get up close and personal with some of the fuzziest animals around.
There are plenty of animals for the kids to pat and cuddle, including a llama, alpaca, miniature goats, sheep, ducks and lots of chickens.
The only problem you’ll have afterwards is the kids begging to take one of the animals home!
