The Year of Green! Coco Republic’s Top 7 Brisbane Style Tips for 2017
Whether you’re selling a property or creating the perfect oasis, styling a home is crucial in creating ambience and mood.
“Your home is your biggest investment and your sanctuary away from the outside world,” says Wendy Schmalkuche, the Team Leader and Senior Property Stylist at Coco Republic Property.
Just as one expresses themselves through clothing or hairstyles, your home can be a true reflection of who you are.
Wanting to freshen up your look?
Wendy Schmalkuche reveals the top style trends in Brisbane for this year.
1. Create comfortable nooks; interior trends are moving towards the creation of comfortable nooks and zoned spaces to sit, relax and reflect and away from open plan living.
2. We’re seeing less Carrera Marble with bright white and contrast grey vein in favour of deeper, warmer marbles for bench tops and other hard surfaces.
3. Brass is a focus in interiors as opposed to copper accents. The trend is moving into a rustic brass feel rather than shiny copper for tapware and lighting.
4. Pantone announced their colour of the year for 2017 as ‘Greenery’ – with this trend add splashes of botanic greens but otherwise one should keep tones muted and organic for timeless appeal.
5. The use of darker timbers rather than the blonde Scandinavian influenced timbers, particularly in flooring and joinery. Rustic French Oaks are prevalent, classic and beautiful.
6. Measure furniture and plan your layout before you move (especially measure the lift).
7. Always aim to create interior spaces that you love coming home to, that feel welcoming, lived in and loved. That is most important of all.
