Run by two Bulimba locals, Abby Grant and her mother Pat, the duo have a passion for healthy eating and helping the environment.
Focusing both on natural and organic whole foods that nourish your body and also ensuring zero waste, The Source Bulk Foods at Bulimba is participating in Plastic Free July.
“People can come and shop with us without taking home excess packaging that will in turn end up in our environment” says Abby.
Abby showed us through all the incredible products in store and gave us handy tips on how we can each reduce our single use plastic use.
Tell us about Plastic Free July?
Plastic Free July is a great initiative that started in Western Australia in 2011 and has spread worldwide.
This year there’s so much momentum around Plastic Free July, with all of The Source Bulk Food store participating.
We’re really encouraging all our customers and the local community to jump on board.
I think some people can get a little overwhelmed by the whole concept of going plastic free - you open your pantry and everything is packaged, in the supermarket even fruit and veg is packaged these days so it can seem hard to avoid.
The idea is we can all make really small, simple changes that make a difference.

What do you like about being in Bulimba?
We absolutely love Bulimba.
The community here is really health conscious and fitness oriented. You’ll see people walking their dog’s day and night down by the river.
We think The Source Bulk Foods is a perfect fit for the area.
I’ve lived here for 10 years now and can’t imagine living or working anywhere else.
