‘Cyclone’ - not only a tropical storm, but also a champion professional fighter named Tyrone Tongia.

Taking his knowledge from the boxing-ring, combining it with his passion for fitness, Coach Cyclone runs Cyclone HQ boxing gym.

Offering everything from boxing, weights, strength and cardio training, Cyclone HQ works with every client to build character and help reach their goals.

“There’s a lot of gloves and punching involved and a lot of sweat will be poured. Every session at Cyclone HQ is rewarding,” says Coach Cyclone.

How did we come across Coach Cyclone? Real Estate Agent Cherone Pelgen, and cousin to “the Cyclone”, invited us along to his VERY FIRST session at Cyclone HQ.

Tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to opening Cyclone HQ?

Taking my background as a professional fighter, I got into training others, more so on the fitness side of things rather than technical boxing.

After I retired from fighting, I found a love for coaching and opened Cyclone HQ, which combines fitness and technique sessions for clients.

I like to think we build character here. That’s what it’s all about!

Where did your passion for boxing come from?

I think my passion came as I did more and more boxing.

The more blood, sweat and tears I put into it the more rewarding and satisfying it became.  

I think the more you give to something it will either grow on you or you’ll get sick of it and standing here today in my own gym is evidence that passion grew for me.

Did you always see yourself owning your own boxing gym?

The short answer for that is, when I was fighting professionally, no I did not.

As I grew a passion and interest in training, the gym has only continued to improve and progress over the years.

I enjoy working with clients to see their progress and help them on their journey, whether that be mental or physical.
