By Shannon Edwards // Place Bulimba

This Saturday (October 28) marks the day of a very special event.

“Train to End the Pain” is a charity event hosted by Strength & Movement Gym and Duo Pilates in Morningside, raising funds for the Polished Man Charity in the fight against violence towards children.

Sounds like a great cause, right? How do you become involved? It’s really simple and sounds like a lot of fun! Check out all the details below.

What is the purpose of the event?

The purpose is to raise awareness and funds for the Polished Man Charity.

Polished Man is an innovative fundraising campaign that challenges men and women to stand up and help end violence against children.

The main feature of the campaign is to paint one nail blue to represent the one child that dies every five minutes as a result of violence.

The idea behind the painted nail is to start a conversation. A conversation that will create awareness. That awareness will hopefully lead to action and ultimately donation.

Collectively, we can work towards protecting society’s most vulnerable citizens and our future leaders.

How will the event work?

To raise funds we’re sticking to what we know best... training!

We’ve put together a four hour morning event that includes seven training sessions, food, music, coffee, prizes, challenges and competition.

We will create an awesome community training environment for anyone wishing to be involved. We welcome everyone from the community no matter your age or skill level.

All we’re asking for is a minimum $10 donation on the day to train with us. We’re also encouraging people who can’t attend to donate through our fundraising page throughout the month of October. We’re already well over halfway to our goal of raising $10,000! With the help of the community we’re sure we can far exceed our original goal.

Train to end the Pain

What does it mean for Strength & Movement Gym and Duo Pilates to host this event?

Ending violence against children is a cause very close to our hearts, so when we heard about the Polished Man campaign we wanted to do whatever we could to support it.

As we came across the campaign only recently, we have been racing against the clock to organise and run an event in the month of October - the Polished Man campaign month.

Your support will help us run a successful charity and community event, so please join us and together we can make a difference.

We’re so thankful for the 25 local businesses involved in the event, they’re the ones helping make this possible.
