It’s a Dog’s Life | The Best Pooch-Friendly Places on the Eastside & Where to Find Them
Author // Shannon Edwards, Place Bulimba
Big, brown puppy dog eyes giving you an accusatory glare as you leave the house – we’ve all been there.
We don’t know about you, but if we could take our puppies everywhere with us, we certainly would!
There’s an undoubtable bond between us and our dogs.
No matter how ‘ruff’ our day has been they always seem to brighten it, so why not make their day.
This Thursday, March 23, marks International Puppy Day – A day to remind our pups just how much we love them.
In dedication to our doggies we’ve sniffed out some of the best pup friendly locations across Brisbane’s Inner- East.
Here are six of the best cafes, parks and walking tracks we can get our paws on.

Bulimba Riverside Park
With great views across the river overlooking Teneriffe, Bulimba Riverside Park is the perfect location to watch the sun go down.
Pull out a picnic blanket and watch your pets enjoy the off-leash dog area.
Don’t forget your frisbee!
There’s plenty of green space to play a good-old game of fetch with your pooch.
Colmslie Recreation Reserve
Along the banks of the Brisbane River in Morningside, Colmslie Recreation Reserve is a spot the whole family can enjoy.
The large park includes picnic areas and a playground for the two-legged family members as well as a dog park for our four-legged friends.
Although the dog park is fenced and away from the water, your pup is more than welcome to explore off-leash and enjoy a swim in the river.

Seven Hills Reserve
Your dog loves going for walks and you get exercise taking them – everybody wins!
With plenty of trees to sniff, the Seven Hills Circuit is your perfect escape from the inner-city lifestyle.
With numerous access points throughout the suburb, the bush walk is perfect for an afternoon stroll.
Our Haus Café
As far as dog-friendly cafes go, Hawthorne’s Our Haus Café is one of the best.
Your pooch is bound to be as well fed as there’s a great selection of doggy delicacies available.
While you indulge on French toast and chai lattes, they’ll be knocking back meaty treats and ‘puppachinos’ in no time.
Carport Café
Perched on Pickwick Street, Carport Café is one of Cannon Hill’s best kept secrets.
And it’s no secret that doggies love it as much as we do.
With a beautifully landscaped courtyard, your companion can curl up under the shade of a tree and enjoy the relaxing surroundings.
Offering a delicious menu including smaller options for the kiddies, Carport Café is perfect for the whole family.

Dimanche
A dog-friendly café that specialises in sweet treats – say no more.
Tucked away on the corner of Oxford and Godwin Streets, Dimanche is Bulimba’s hidden gem.
Using only locally sourced ingredients of the highest quality, Dimanche’s dishes are inspired by the seasons and are bound to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Our four-legged friends get in on the action too with a selection of pup friendly snacks available to enjoy in the outside shaded courtyard.
