With the mission of inspiring movement and getting kids excited about exercise MyFirstGym has officially opened their doors to the community!

Located at the well-known Morningside AFL Club in Hawthorne, MyFirstGym welcomes all kiddies from 7 months up to 13 years to come, have fun and get active.

“The community has done a great job at supporting us and have really gotten on-board. We opened the doors with 270 members and we’re just thrilled to be able to make a difference in the community,” says MyFirstGym CEO Dan Newton.

We checked out the gym and witnessed the ‘Ninja Warrior’ class in action. We asked a few parents what they love most about MyFirstGym and why they’re so please to have their children involved.

Dan, could you talk us through the My Movement Buddy technology you have available at the gym?

My Movement Buddy is a state of the art wearable technology for kids.

Basically what it does is measure their movement in and outside the facility to see how active they are.

It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for the kids to be accountable for their movement through technology.

What we’ve found in the past is technology has been the problem, leading to inactivity.

We’ve found a technology solution that’s going to get them moving and excited to be active. It’s almost like a game for the kids as they can beat their own daily active levels.

We see this as a way to change behaviour for the rest of their life and develop a love for health and fitness from an early age.
