[VIDEO] Hawthorne | This Roar Player is Helping Save Animal’s Lives

You probably know him for his position as defender in the Brisbane Roar team, or perhaps you see him around his Hawthorne neighbourhood, unusually with a different dog in-tow each time.

Local, Jack Hingert, is not only a hero on the field, but also to the lives of many homeless animals.

As part of the RSPCA foster parent program, Jack has successfully trained and cared for 12 unloved animals.

“What we love most about foster caring is seeing the animals grow and show their personalities, which lead them to finding their forever home,” says Jack.

We had a lovely afternoon in Hawthorne Park with a very special doggy, Finn.

Amongst giving lots of pats and receiving slobbery kisses, Jack shared with us why foster caring is important.

How did you get into fostering dogs?

I’ve always been a dog lover.

Even though I never had a dog of my own growing up, I would always be over at my friends’ houses, playing with their dogs all day.

When my partner and I found out that the RSPCA was after foster parents for the animals, we gave them a call right away because it was something we were interested in doing.

Animal care has always been very important to us.

It has gone really well and we have loved the experience of watching the dogs grow and letting their personalities shine, sending them off to their forever homes.

We currently have our 12th foster dog staying with us at the moment.
