Author // Georgina Auton, Place Graceville

One year ago, the Dunlop Park Memorial Swimming Pool in Corinda changed ownership and last weekend, the new owners celebrated one year.

This pool has been a hub for meetups in the community since it was built in the early 60s.

Myra Young teaches Aqua at the pool, but she’s been visiting the pool since 1962.

Back then, the kids and teens from the area used to spend their weekends at the pool and the Sherwood Cinema.

Myra thinks that most of the kids in the local area since then probably learnt to swim at the pool, and loves the community atmosphere that it has!

Since it’s a big birthday for the pool’s new owners, we speak to Wade Brennan (manager), Karen Mogg and Myra about what they love about the pool and the local area.
