By Rachel Mann // Place Projects

Whether it’s to clear your mind, get active or be social, there’s no denying walking benefits our bodies!

Thanks to our killer climate, these Brisbane walks can be done all year round.

So grab your sneakers, get outdoors and take in the fresh air, as we’ve scoped out the best short and scenic strolls our city has to offer.

Kangaroo Point Loop via City Botanical Gardens

Start from River Terrace, Kangaroo Point - 6km

Park your car and begin this riverside loop along the top of the Kangaroo Point Cliffs.

Take the stairs down to the river and head towards the Thorton St Ferry Terminal – trust us, it’s much easier on the way down!

From here, cross the road to the Story Bridge, leading you into the city. Remember to take in the view of the city skyline!

Follow the river all the way along Eagle Street Pier and immerse yourself in the greenery of the Botanic Gardens.

The beauty of this walk, you can cross whatever bridge you come to – if you don’t want sore feet, take the Goodwill or Victoria Bridges.

Once crossing the bridge you’ll find yourself on the Southside where you’ll follow the riverside path back to your car.

Teneriffe to City via New Farm Riverwalk

Start from Commercial Road, Newstead - 6km

Kicking off from the Teneriffe ferry terminal, stroll down the boardwalk towards New Farm.

Gazing at the stunning homes bordering either side of the river, you’ll soon meet the Brisbane Powerhouse.

We recommend doing this walk on a Saturday so you can pop into the Jan Powers Farmers Markets before noon.

Grab a cold drink Watt Bar in the afternoon or catch your breath at End of the Road Coffee in the morning.

This will lead you past New Farm Park where you can venture down any of the streets to the infamous New Farm Riverwalk.

From here, you’ll be in the CBD in under 30 minutes.

Start from JC Slaughter Falls

Less daunting than it sounds, the Mount Coot-tha walk is only a short 1 hour round trip – add 20 minutes to get those selfies for the gram.

Park at the base of the hill and wander through the marked bushland to the top.

Besides the awe-inspiring views over the city, there’s plenty to do once you’ve conquered Mount Coot-tha.

Refresh at Kuta Café or lose yourself in many of the bushwalking trails.

Morning people, this is definitely a walk for you!
