[VIDEO] Coorparoo | Why You Should Be Staying Fit at 50+
By Chelsea Keim // Place Coorparoo
Put down those knitting needles and pick up some dumbbells (we’re kidding!)
These over 50’s are getting fit, having fun and staying fabulous.
Locals are gathering in the Coorparoo School of Arts and Memorial hall every Wednesday morning to meet with friends and break a sweat.
No matter your physical abilities, Gentle Fitness for over 50’s accepts everyone and anyone wanting to stay fit, healthy, socialise and have fun!
This exercise class is held by the Brisbane City Council - it’s called the Active and Healthy Brisbane Program.
Louise Coates, the trainer at Gentle Fitness, gives us all the details on the program she runs in conjunction with Brisbane City Council.
What is your role within the Active and Healthy Brisbane Program?
I contract to Brisbane City Council for their Active and Healthy Parks Program. I run their GOLD program, which is the Growing Old Living Dangerously Program.
They provide exercise programs but also other activities like kayaking or even learning how to play the ukulele.
