Can you remember what it was like to be a kid?

Sitting in your room, surrounded by toys with your mind taken to places of your dreams.

The floor would turn to lava, the bed into a giant pirate ship and your toys are right there by your side through the adventure.

Teenie & Tiny in Camp Hill is a store that will bring back all those nostalgic feelings.

The brightly coloured space is filled with beautiful treasures that will add to the fantastic imagination of the kids in your life.

Run by Annetta Cayas and her mother Katina Papadatos, the duo know exactly what kids love and stock special and unique pieces from across the world.

Fascinated by the space, we asked Anetta how it all began?

How did Teenie & Tiny begin?

It all started one day … that was just like any other.

Mum and I had come for coffee in the area when we noticed a vacant tenancy.

With three teenie, tiny children of my own, we saw an opportunity to bring a beautiful children’s toy store to the neighbourhood.

We started brainstorming and thinking “can you imagine if we opened a store?”

Within six weeks, the dream became a reality and we opened the doors to Teenie & Tiny in November of 2012.

What makes Teenie & Tiny unique?

We love wooden toys!

We love the nostalgia that’s held in special childhood toys and we specialise in beautiful items that make childhoods’ memorable.

We try very hard to source beautifully crafted items from Australia and overseas that hold an aesthetic, educational, or nostalgic value.

We also love our customers - customer service is really important to us in an era where everything is fast-paced and digital.

What have you loved about running the store?

We enjoy sourcing and finding amazing new products, especially when we are supporting other small businesses and mumpreneurs (mummy entrepreneurs).

We live locally ourselves so working locally and being part of this beautiful community here in Camp Hill is a dream come true.

We have an amazing network of regular customers who, in many ways, have become our extended family and friends over the years.

Our customers see mum as friend, Aunt or grandmother, and they hear all about her children and grandchildren.

We love watching these families come into our store - it really is a very special job.

How do you go juggling the business and being a mother?

I’m very fortunate that I’m not doing this alone – mum holds the fort at the shop full-time, while I take care of the behind-the-scenes work.

We’re a great team and we couldn’t do this without each other.
