Methods of training for sport are always changing and the bar to be the best keeps getting higher.
For athletes who strive to be the best, they have to innovate and keep up with those trends.
That’s where Equinox Performance comes in.
Equinox trains athletes to be the best by incorporating strength and conditioning into their training - something they may not have considered before.
Mark Blomely from Equinox says there’s been a big change in the number of people who are seeking this kind of training to help them improve their times or outcomes in their sporting fields.
“It has become more recognised and I think the big change for us has been the age level of people coming through the door,” says Mark.
“We get a lot of eight to 12 year-olds now, whereas in the past it was usually starting with the mid-teens.”
“That’s changed, particularly in the last five years,” he says.
Strength and conditioning is a process and Mark says, like anything, you won’t see immediate results.
“You need to get those basic lifts right and then slowly add onto it over time.
“It’s not something you should look at and go ‘I want to do this for six weeks and get strong and then leave it by the wayside.
“It’s something you should commit to over the long term while you’re looking to do well in sport,” he says.
We speak to Mark about strength and conditioning and some of the successes he’s had with training elite athletes.
