The Oxley Sailing Club has been in the Chelmer area from way back when the suburb was still part of the Oxley Electorate.

It opened its doors around 1902, known then as the Oxley Electorate Sailing Club, and their club house has been on Leybourne Street since the 1950s.

These guys sail every weekend in the summer months and love nothing more than getting out on the water.

There’s a bit of friendly rivalry between sailors, who each favour a different type of vessel.

From learn-to-sail courses to racing, the club offers it all and they’re always welcoming new members who are looking to get into the sport.

We chat to Commodore of the Club, Keith Briers, who has been sailing for over 50 years!
