Janine Highley started Centenary Pet Sitting in 2010 because she felt there was a huge gap in the market for in-home pet care when owners go on holidays.

Since then, the business has really taken off and Janine has hired several staff members, including Robyn Ashton (who currently runs the business while Janine looks after her toddler), to keep up with demand and expand into new suburbs.

The aim of the business is to provide a great experience for pets and owners by looking after the pets at their house.

“This is particularly good for older pets who’ve got a routine,” Janine explains.

“If their dog goes and lies on the patio in the sun every afternoon, then he can continue to do that.”

Janine says pet owners find it more difficult to go on holiday when their pet is older, and Centenary Pet Sitting gives a different option for owners who know their homes and pets are safe.

“We send pictures and updates every single day and the owners love to receive them because they know their pet is safe and everything is okay at home,” Robyn says.

“They say they were able to just enjoy their holiday!”

We had a chat to Janine and Robyn about what they love about pet-sitting and why it’s the best job ever!
