Moving from northern England to Brisbane, Laura Rocket has worked at Kenmore Village Florist for nine years, before taking over as the owner in the last 18 months.

The business has a flourishing customer base of regulars who buy flowers for every occasion with Laura’s help.

“My husband’s family taught me to be a florist. They owned a garden centre and a big flower shop in England,” Laura says.

Laura loves everything about being a florist, from dealing with happy customers to the smells and sights of beautiful flowers.

While everyone has their personal taste in fresh blooms, Laura’s favourite are the more exotic flowers like bird of paradise.

She says it’s a busy time of year with festivities that require colourful gifts or decorations.

“We’ve just had the Kenmore State High Formal, so we’ve been really busy with that!”

“Now we’re just getting excited for Christmas,” she says.

We stopped into the shop to find out more about Laura’s customers and some of the occasions they’re buying flowers for.
