Are you looking for a new hobby that’ll give you self-confidence and strength? This up-and-coming martial art is definitely worth a try!
Henry Le Gay Brereton is ex-army and fell in love with the art of self defence when he was living in Canberra.
After making the move to Brisbane, he decided the Centenary Suburbs needed somewhere for locals to learn.
16 months ago, he started Asia Pacific Self Defence - a self-defence school that teaches locals a form of self-defence stemming from Hapkido.
“Lots of people have heard of Karate and Aikido, but not too many have heard of Hapkido,” Henry says.
Hapkido is a combat-based, Korean martial art involving throws, kicks and more!
Henry likes the well-rounded set of combat skills it incorporates.
Henry says he’d love to see self-defence taught to all young people as a way to quickly and easily diffuse a situation and protect themselves with the minimal force necessary.
