The Busy City Life | Want More Time?

What’s something we all want more of that money, success, skills or friends in high places can’t buy?

Time.

What if we told you that there are indeed ways you can get more time?

While we still only get 24 hours in a day, Rebecca from Super Organised shares with us tips on tweaking a few habits in order to get more time for what we really want to do.

It can be hard to prioritise the things we love.

Rebecca has designed a few tips for Brisbane’s busy inner-city professionals, which she promises will have a huge impact.

What time management skills do you recommend to busy working clients?

Utilise your weekend to plan the week ahead

Write down all your weekly appointments, training sessions and meetings in your diary.

This way you can visualise where you are, where you need to be and what time remains.

Make a meal plan

Shop for the week and precook a few meals over the weekend.

On those crazy busy days when you drag yourself home - starving - there will already be a meal prepared ready to go.

If you don’t enjoy cooking, companies like Marley Spoon and Hello Fresh offer fantastic healthy meals delivered to your door.

Meal planning saves time when deciding what to eat and prevents those mid-week shops when you realise you don’t have enough ingredients.

New Farm Markets, for example, is a fabulous place to stock up on fresh produce for the week.

Organise your outfit the night before.

Everything from shoes, suits, ties, jewellery and underwear.

Are they washed, ironed and ready to wear?

That way everything is ready to go and you no longer have that ‘what do I wear moment’ in the morning.

Leave the house 10 minutes early.

One downside to inner-city living is morning traffic!

Leaving 10 minutes earlier will give you a grace period and a bit of leeway if the bus is late or you get caught up.

Go to bed early and rise early.

Allow enough time to get some good quality sleep to rejuvenate your body.

Don’t have electronics in your bedroom as they stimulate your brain and disrupt your sleep.

By getting up an hour earlier you can make time to exercise, meditate or read.

It’s important to take some time for yourself in the mornings before you are distracted by phone calls.

Any tips on what to do in our down time?

Firstly, down time is extremely important.

With the extra time you have just created, make sure you invest in some relaxation as it’s essential in ensuring you are at your best when you’re working.

Go for a run or walk around the beautiful Brisbane River City Loop.

Or, get your mates together and grab a picnic blanket, cold beers and a frisbee and head to in New Farm Park.

Where are some of your favourite places to relax?

New Farm.

It’s one of Brisbane’s quintessential villages that promotes a lovely juxtaposition of quiet, peaceful and calm living with the cool vibe of funky coffee shops.

The iconic New Farm Park provides beautiful river views and plenty of shade under the spectacular fig trees – a perfect space to relax with a book.
