[VIDEO] Teneriffe | The Tale of Teneriffe’s Token Brewery

By Shannon Edwards // Place New Farm

Once upon a time there were two best mates who had a dream.

That dream... was to quit their day jobs and do what every man wants to do… run a brewery!

After a lot of hard work and a few beers, Marc Chrismas and Adrian Slaughter made their dream a reality and opened Green Beacon Brewing Co.

The brick façade, large roller doors and cement flooring creates the perfect warehouse-chic interior… could this be Brisbane’s trendiest brewery? What we do know is, their beer is mighty fine!

We sit down with the boys before the brewery opens its doors (and yes, we did have a 10am beer) where they tells us the tail of Green Beacon.

What makes Green Beacon successful?

I think the key point is to be confident in what you do and constantly strive to be better.

To do something like this, you’ve got to work really hard and invest in a lot of time. You need to have good people working for you and the best equipment.

Too often people in the brewery game think it’s all about the beer side of the business but it’s about much more than that, at the end of the day you’re running a business.

Obviously the beer is very important – the product has to be the most important thing and that’s why we’ve been so successful.

For us, it’s about differentiating the Green Beacon from the rest of the market and our entire business model is about being different.

Everything about us has a point of difference, from our branding, location, tastes, our marketing, the way we discuss beer and the way we encourage people to taste our beer.
