Miss Jones | You MUST Check Out New Farm’s Newest Café
Author // Shannon Edwards for Place New Farm
A charming pastel-coloured café with the name of Miss Jones is New Farm’s newest addition.
Run by Brisbane Roar player Daniel Bowles and his wife Hannah, the duo have created this beautiful, aesthetically pleasing space which they call a grown-up version of their other café, Little Loco.
“We’re two New Farm locals with a serious love for good food and coffee, so we’re really excited to introduce everyone to Miss Jones,” says Daniel.
…and we know you’ll love her!
Daniel and Hannah have put lots of time and love into creating the perfect space, yummiest menu and the best coffee for all who come to meet Miss Jones.
We sat down with Daniel and got the inside scoop on what inspired the start-up of this trendy café.
As New Farm locals, what do you love about the area?
Firstly, what is there not to love about New Farm?!
My wife Hannah and I feel so lucky to live in such a beautiful suburb.
I think what we love is that we’re so close to the hustle and bustle of the city, we have everything we could need right here at our fingertips, but at the same time we feel like we’re tucked away in this beautiful, suburban village.
New Farm has a very peaceful vibe to it.
Being big foodies ourselves, we love the café and dining culture here and with Little Loco and Miss Jones we wanted to contribute to that.
What was the inspiration behind the concept of Miss Jones Café?
We named the café ‘Miss Jones’ to give her a personality and character.
Our wish is to create a warm, inviting space. Our pastel walls, light timber furniture, pillows and communal dining table build a space for people to feel comfortable and cosy.
The theme that we’re tuning into is a blend of industrial, with soft pastels and greenery.
What we’ve created is a space where people can come and have a meal, settle in with a coffee and get some work done on their laptop (with the use of our free Wifi). We want people to stay as long as they please.
What can you tell us about your delicious menu?
Our menu is a healthier, modernised take on your breakfast classics.
For example, Miss Jones does a take on the all-time fav, eggs benedict but our version is on a hash and cheddar waffle topped with avo, chorizo, chipotle hollandaise and poached eggs – it’s a winner.
We put a lot of time and care into all items on our menu so they not only taste amazing but also look great.
We always say that you eat with your eyes first so if it looks beautiful it’s going to taste even better!
What do you think people will love about Miss Jones?
I think it’s a combination of the space, the food and the coffee that we have here. As I mentioned we’ve put a lot of time into all those elements so we believe they’re all superb.
Here in Brisbane, and New Farm, we have a strong café culture because we love good coffee.
We found that there weren’t too many places which served specialty coffee, so that’s something unique to us. Our beans all come from a roaster called Single O, out of Surry Hills in Sydney.
