[VIDEO] Graceville | Want to Know Why the Ekka’s Famous Strawberry Sundae Tastes so Good?
Author // Georgina Auton, Place Graceville
The Ekka is almost upon is again and there’s one thing that stands out above everything else!
No, it’s not the showbags, although they’re probably a close second!
It’s the famous Strawberry Sundaes.
These treats have been part of the Ekka history as long as most of us can remember, but in 2012 the iconic Strawberry Sundae underwent a facelift.
That’s where Lick! Ice Cream came in.
Lick! Ice Cream is an ice-cream business that’s over 13-years-old. Almost two years ago, they opened a shop on Honour avenue, Graceville.
A favourite stop for kids after school, these guys were also approached by the RNA in 2012 to reinvent the Strawberry Sundae.
Owner Grant Lew says it was a monumental and exciting task.
He chats with us about the process of making sure everything was perfect for the new Strawberry Sundae.
Can you tell us about some of the other flavours that you develop for specific events
We do flavour development for other large events, including Paniyiri.
Baklava flavour is one that we do for that occasion.
It’s all made in-house - we make our own Baklava to get the sugar levels right and to make sure it’s not too sweet.
We also do a Grecian delight and an Ouzo ice-cream aswell for that!
What’s your most popular flavour?
Our flavours rotate, but right now our cookie-dough-choc-chip-caramel with our salted butterscotch sauce is super popular.
Cookies and cream and peppermint choc-chip are always up there in the top list of choices.
Thanks to Lick for the still photos from the Ekka used in our video.
