Teneriffe | How Bella’s Keeping Brisbane’s Brows on Fleek

“I remember getting a message from a new client saying that she walked past a girl with good brows… then turned around and chased her to find out where she got them done which then lead her to me,” says Isabella the owner of Bella Brows.

Chasing someone in the streets just to find out where they got their eyebrows done? They must be pretty spectacular, right?!

Isabella Walker found her love for brows and beauty at a young age. Having studied through High School, working two jobs to be able to pursue her passion and taking a gamble to follow her dream.

Now, in her early twenties, Isabella has become one of Brisbane’s most sought after brow specialists!

Located in the trendy suburb of Teneriffe in her gorgeously styled salon, Bella Brows specialises in brow transformations and lash lifts.

We sat down with Isabella between appointments to find out how she took this passion and turned it into a success. 

Where did this passion come from?

When I was a young girl I was always really into makeup and beauty.

As I grew up I became fascinated in skincare products and the subtle beauty care that would make a huge difference. I found that brows were one of them.

Back in high school I wasn’t overly academic and with a big interest in beauty I studied at a beauty collage one day a week.

I finished school and was working for a brow specialist while doing a diploma in makeup. The more I worked with brows, the more I realised that’s where my real passion was.

Bella Brows sort of begun without me realising… I was working out of home doing the brows of my friends and family and before I knew it I was getting more and more interest from clients.

Quickly it got to the point where the brow business became full time work.

I think Bella Brows launched at the right time. I had two years’ experience under my belt and it was a time where brows became a big focus in beauty and we began to realise how essential good brows really are.

What is it about brows that you love so much?

I think that a good brow shaping has the potential to completely transform your face.

I often refer to a brow wax as a ‘facial transformation’ as my clients look in the mirror after their appointment and feel completely refreshed.

I think having your brows done makes you feel good. The most common response from clients it that they feel much better, neater, and ready to take on the world.

Brows and lash lifts are instant transformations which leave our clients feeling great.

I love seeing these transformations giving my clients a confidence boost and leave them feeling fabulous.

What was the process of making Bella Brows into what it is today?

I started at home, at my parents’ house, where I set up in their lounge room.

I would have clients visit in the hours when my parents were at work. As my client base grew it became tricky as most of their availability was outside my work hours – after 5 and on the weekends.

From there I rented a tiny space in New Farm. The space was just big enough for a chair, wax pot and a tiny little table for decoration. 

It was great moving into my own space as it allowed me to work any hours that suited my clients.

I laugh about it now because I was pretty much in an office reception behind a curtain. My clients come in now and reminisce saying “remember when you were in that tiny shoe-box and now you’re here with three staff!”

It’s crazy how far it’s come since then.

From there it got busier and busier and I was booking in two months ahead of time. I decided that it was time to employ so I had availability for more clients.

Working from a tiny space there was no room for another person so we moved pretty quickly and I was lucky enough to find the perfect spot here in Teneriffe.

What are you doing to constantly improve your business?    

I’m always keeping on top of the latest trends in brow and beauty.

I specialise in brows and lashes and love to learn about any new products and techniques. 

I recently went to LA and learnt the skill of brow tattooing as that’s a trend that’s in high demand. The art of brow tattooing has been happening in the States for years so I thought it would be best to learn from the best.

With tattooing it's all about practice and learning different techniques so I will keep learning and growing.
